"She gives most who gives with joy"

“Each of us must discern, accept and live out joyfully and generously the commitments, responsibilities and roles to which God calls him or her.”
Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response
U.S. Catholic bishops’ pastoral letter on stewardship

The Third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday, one of only two Sundays on which the liturgical color is pink. Gaudete is Latin for “joy.” Joy is not a scatterbrained, irresponsible frivolity. Joy, remember, is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

In the words of Blessed Mother Teresa: “Joy is prayer. Joy is strength. Joy is love. Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. God loves a cheerful giver. She gives most who gives with joy ... A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart burning with love. Never let anything so fill you with sorrow as to make you forget the joy of the Christ risen.”

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song.” — Psalm 100:1

When you give, do you do so cheerfully? Do you live out your roles and responsibilities joyfully and generously? What is God calling you to discern this Advent?
